The remote Dzawada’enuxw First Nation village in Kingcome Inlet is accessible only by boat or plane. Currently relying on diesel-generated electricity, the community is vulnerable to environmental risks, high operations costs and the fluctuating price of diesel. The proposed Padakus Hydropower Project is a 350 kW run-of-river facility anticipated to displace more than 90% of the diesel currently consumed. Generating renewable energy will allow for population growth and economic development within the remote village. This Nation-owned project is currently in the detailed design phase.
