In late May, members of the Barkley Project Group team travelled to Hot Springs Cove to connect with Hesquiaht First Nation community members and share an update on the Community Energy Plan currently being developed with the Nation.
Over lunch, the team shared information about energy efficiency, micro-grid load management and practical ways households can reduce energy use. These conversations are an important part of Barkley’s Community Energy Planning services, which support communities in identifying energy priorities and planning practical pathways forward. Community members also shared valuable feedback on home energy challenges, energy priorities and opportunities for future improvements.
The visit led to thoughtful conversations that will help inform the next steps of the Community Energy Plan. Barkley is grateful to everyone who joined the discussion, shared their experiences and contributed to the planning process. We look forward to continuing the conversation and working alongside Hesquiaht First Nation as the Community Energy Plan progresses.
